School Week 3

JESUS

JAMESTOWN & POCAHONTAS

AIR

This week we learned about Jesus’ childhood, and His purpose for coming.  In Math we skip counted by 10, and counted to 100 (lesson 6 in Math U See).  In History/Social Studies we read some good books and learned about Jamestown settlement, Captain John Smith and Pocahontas. Our read aloud was “Squanto, Friend of the Pilgrims” (we ended up reading the whole book rather than following the recommended schedule to read it for the next 3 weeks).  In Science we learned about Air, and performed some experiments (science experiments are Benjamin’s favorite thing about school!).  Benjamin continued learning to draw from Draw Write Now books.  We did some picture studies from “Come Look with Me” book, and continued practicing singing “God Bless America” song.

Trying to flick the newspaper off with the ruler (air pushing down on it made this difficult)

I am loving all your homeschool updates! You are doing so well at documenting with photos and summaries. Good job mom! Looking forward to Thursday! I am planning on bringing Stephen’s kids as well, since i have extra tickets. The kids are going to have a blast. Are you going earlier? What’s the plan?
